Last winter (before I found my beloved Lypsyl Lypmoisturizer) my lips were so chapped, I swear I could have filed my nails with them.
The situation seemed hopeless. (This is the Lifetime movie edition.) Every lip balm I tried seemed to get sucked into my lips the second I applied it. You’d have thought I had lips the girth of Angelina’s, to have so much endless depth for the stuff to sink into. Ironically, the more lip balm I applied, the more quickly it absorbed.
It got to the point where I was applying lip balm in a continuous, non-stop circle, 24 hrs a day. Thus dedicating my right hand solely to its application.
Then I found the wonderful, fabulous Fresh Sugar Lip Gloss and not a minute to soon. (That was my right hand typing that).
I usually don’t like lip gloss, because I find most of them sticky.
Like by the end of the day, I expect to be an Entomologist’s wet dream, with an entire collection of insects stuck to my lips.
It contains sugar (a natural humectant and emollient, that helps to draw in and retain moisture), Shea Butter, Jojoba, Grape Seed, Black Currant Seed Oils (to nourish and protect the skin) and Vitamin E (an antioxidant that protects and softens).
It’s also supposedly infused with pearls. I don’t see pearls listed in the ingredients. I do see Mica however. Perhaps they meant to say Mica- pearls of the land? Pearls (or Mica) help to reflect light, making lips look plumper.
This gloss goes on sheer, but still has enough color to look sassy.
I have to say a tube of this stuff lasts a really long time. I apply it several times a day and it took me more than 6 months to go through a tube.
It's kind of like the Garanimals of lip glosses.
Pictures of bugs, lip gloss and Garanimals, all in one post. Where is my medication?

i would try this, but i hate the look of glossy lips on me...not so flattering. i definitely just made a homemade face mask with Crisco and baking soda haha. my skin feels really nice actually. my friend and i bought huge tubs of Crisco today (i converted her) and the lady at the store was seriously judging us. i had to add, "Um, we don't eat this..." but then it would be more embarrassing to admit what we DO do with it...

OMG. Can I just tell you what a mad genius you are?

Thanks Tracey. You might be right about the "mad" part, the "genius", not so much.
Thanks again for your kind words.

Hey Pik,
You should just tell the lady at the store that you like to eat it by the spoonful while watching TV. Just to freak her out. Did you really make a mask of crisco and baking soda?

yes i really did. i figured, a lot of masks have vitamin e, i know baking soda is good for exfoliation and blemishes, so what the hell. i've always made my own face masks and i've never had any sort of reaction, although i did once set my hair on fire steaming my face over a pot of water on a still-lit stove. ah, memories.

not to overly comment on this post, but that's annoying that i mistyped my own name..."piks"?

Pik, you never want to point that out. We never would have noticed. Hair on fire, now this...:)

Fresh is AMAZING. They have a lip treatment stick that is fantastic too, if you still need super hydration and want to wear a different lipstick. Bonus: it moisturizes but soaks in enough you can apply matte over it without it creeping. Plus, the tube is so well designed the cap screws on and off (easily) and you never have an open lip balm rolling around the bottom of your bag!

I've always been a fan of Sugar and haven't bought any of the Fresh. Grabbing my keys right now!

I love most of the Fresh line. Too bad it is so pricey. That creme ancienne is key during ski season, and i love the dry body oil and the rose face mask. love, love, love them.
btw: you are total mad genius. And I am jacking that image of the Garanimals tags.
If they made Garanimals for adult males my husband would get dressed a whole lot quicker in the morning.

I wanted to try the Ancienne. Sounds very exotic made in a monastery and all. Good to know it's good. I think you should start the Garanimals line for guys. You'd probably make a fortune:)

Hi! Thanks for this fun post! I have a terrible problem with chapped lips this winter and it is exactly how you described - I apply lip balm, it absorbs immediately and there is no effect... I tried so many things already and am quite frustrated... Need to give Fresh Sugar Lip Gloss a try.

I will have to try Fresh Sugar! It sounds wonderful! Personally, I adore Lip Smackers. I know it looks like kids junk, but honestly, I can't live without my Strawberry lip balm- which I think, works the best out of all the flavors. It gives THE BEST shine with a touch of color, has a way yummy scent, and moisturizes better than any other product I've tried. Plus, it is not sticky in the least, and has an ultra smooth, silky texture. It will make your lips happy. :) Plus, its under $3!

And Lip Smackers is a good name:)
